Working With Your Neighbours

Tuesday, 17th May 2011

As the hard times continue, businesses need to look for new angles not only to save money but find an edge over their competitors. An area that comapanies used to avoid was to creat partnerships with similar companies to make an allied force against the rest of the competition.

The idea of joining with other firms to save costs is now beginning to build momentum as other cost saving ideas are being exhausted. You could either look to join with similar businesses to make a combined marketing effort or perhaps your businesses may compliment each other,so you can pass clients between one another via recommendations.

Double glazing firms would make a good alliance with a construction company or building supplier. Technology firms can also look for alliances with hardware and cabling firms finding some good work to share between them.

Smaller businesses in close proximity are also combining their forces now to drive customers into their area. Another way to save costs is to merge spending power with many businesses buying items in one order to get a bigger discount for everyone. Obviously this can take some advance planning, but can offer huge discounts which add up to quite a substantial savings for a smaller business.

Cost Saving Expert says that businesses need to break out from their existing ways of doing business and start to examine ways they collaborate with other companies. Getting your costs down is paramount these days and being more open and communicative with your neighbours is a good way to begin and you may be surprised by the positive reaction you get in return.
