Royal Wedding costing you money too?
Wednesday, 27th April 2011
The Royal Wedding is taking place this Friday and the UK population is being treated to a day off to enjoy the celebration. But will the wedding affect your business?
If you answered no to the above question, then perhaps you would like to think again. There are many areas that the wedding is having an impact on all of us and many of those are going undetected by many.
The obvious area that has an effect on most businesses is the extra Bank holiday that is been given to the majority of staff. Depending on your type of business, this could affect your retail sales or production lines and an extra day off in April is quite important when there are already so many bank holidays in the same month. There is a holiday atmosphere as people take advantage of a 3 day break to get out of work for over a week.
There may not be many customers shopping around during the week as they are away on an extended break or will stay indoors to watch the big event. People maynot be in the mood to work if the office is quiet, so productivity of staff could be lower and is somethnig to keep track
So how do you get around these issues? It is not all bad news as you may find your costs slightly lower for April if your offices have been closed. Staff will have had a good break so make sure they are back up to speed the moment they return to work. Some businesses may have taken advantage of the wedding, especially if your work is related to catering, food or holiday packages, so make the most of your opportunities and offer special deals and promotions.
Cost Saving Expert also advices you to realyl push for competitive pricing if you are looking to purchase items. Sales staff will be under heeavy pressure to hi their targets and with less working days available, they may be offering you special deals to win your business. Do not be afraid to work on this point to get yourself smoe fantastic deals at this time.
